I knew it would happen eventually...

So my friend Virginia and I went to our local Starbucks (or Mecca, as I often refer to it) yesterday to knit and drink Green Tea Frappucinos. We've been doing this at least 3 days a week for probably the last month. One week we drank our Starbucks out of the stuff, and the manager had to drive to another store to get more for us. So anyway, I'm sitting there knitting away on my Lelah (with my brandnew hair color and freshly waxed eyebrows), and who should walk throught the door? My soon to be ex-husband and the rest of the NIU soccer staff. I've not seen this man since mid May, when he told me that I forced him into marriage and wasn't sure how much he ever really loved me (to this, I replied "I understand how you feel. Lets get a divorce!"). Two days ago, I talked to him and he told me I was mean spirited, maniacal, diabolical, and childish. He went on to say he had been taking the high road throughout this experience. I certainly hope he was excluding the current conversation in this assessment of his behavior.
Anyway, back to the first face to face. HE DIDN'T RECOGNIZE ME. Now, granted, last time he saw me, I was sporting my natural ashy blond color, and now my hair is more like melted chocolate bar brown. Lucky for me, I'd seen him coming, and got to do the "whole sick to my stomach, my heart is in my throat, my hands are shaking" thing before he walked in the door. So perhaps I had the element of surprise on my side. So he came over to talk to us (thanks, asshole. totally how I want to spend my freetime.) and tells me how great it is to see me, how good I look, how he knew this would happen sometime. He asked about the dog. He asked what I was making. He introduced himself to V, asked how I knew her. I think he was shook up because I was with someone he didn't know. He complimented me on my watch (not sure why he was looking at my wrist, but whatever). I sat there for like 15 minutes waiting for him to leave. He kept the conversation going. He looks unkempt and dirty. I don't miss him one bit.
