Jam packed (and how I beat the SSS)

So I made it through 28 parent teacher conferences. How did I celebrate? One word- Whirlyball. medium_dscf0006.7.jpg For more information on this terrific sport, visit www.whirlyball.com. I knew I would have fun, but this was serious fun overload. And I have the bruises to prove it.
Saturday morning, after about 3 hours of sleep, I got up and wanted to knit. And even though this
medium_dscf0007.4.jpg was OH SO TEMPTING, I resisted and finished the Embossed Leaves socks. Done and done.

Here's Zoe showing her approval... medium_dscf0002.6.jpg I absolutely love these socks, although they are a smidge big for me. I think they may be more slippers than socks to wear in shoes. We'll see.
Since I'd finished the socks, I rewarded myself by beginning the Hourglass. Finally. I've been wanting to knit it since I first saw it in Last Minute Knitted Gifts last spring. medium_dscf0007.5.jpg
I decided to do a contrasting edge. I don't love being a big fat copycat, but it was too great an idea to pass up. Here's a pic of the inside. medium_dscf0008.jpg I think it could be a bit neater, so I may rip it out and re-do the hem. I more or less threw it together because I wanted to make sure I'd like it before I got too far in.
So what is next? Besides finishing my Wobbly Circles tote (which I am determined not to do until April 15), I'm planning on doing some Jaywalking in a groovy pink varigated, and Orangina with Brown Sheep Cotton Fine in truffle. I also have some Cotton Fleece in Olivette that I might make the Somewhat Cowl out of, and then I have some more in Willow that I'm thinking might need to be the Ribby Shell from chicknits. I'm also trying to decide what I want to use to make Starsky... because I MUST have that sweater...
In the oven right now??? Yummy tart from Miss Ashley at doggedknits.com. Can't wait to dig into that...

hodge-podge

So here it is: Embossed Leaves Sock #1... medium_dscf0014.3.jpg medium_dscf0007.3.jpg

Here is all of the yarn left from skein 1: medium_dscf0012.3.jpg
I'm about 3" into sock #2. I can't believe I might actually finish both socks within a month--usually I get the second sock syndrome and it either takes me 2 months to start #2, or it just never happens!! Anyone have a sling and some icy hot?? I MIGHT have just sprained my arm patting myself on the back...
The other project I'm working on right now is this lovely earwarmer with some leftover Noro Silk Garden-the original project (hurry up spring armwarmers) is about 3/4 of the way done...

My two great purchases of the week... these marvelous art supplies: medium_dscf0002.5.jpg The Prismacolor pencils are my FAVORITE thing. I can't wait to get those suckers sharp and start using them!
...and this GREAT spring purse. medium_dscf0006.4.jpg I absolutely HAD to have it...

Goals for the week:
1)get the leg of sock #2 started.
2)start postcard for April Project Spectrum Postcard Swap
3)cast on for Hourglass Sweater....

Thinking pink...

Here are some of the pinks and oranges in my house...
medium_dscf0009.jpg
My craftroom. Painted it this summer. LOVE IT!!!

medium_dscf0002_1.jpg
My girldog sleeping on a snuggly fleece blanket I made during Thanksgiving break.

medium_dscf0003.5.jpg
The sign above my sliding glass door in my dining room.

medium_dscf0006.3.jpg
My baby-the pink Kitchenaid mixer.

medium_dscf0010.jpg
Widestrap Chickami in Provincial Rose Cotton Fleece that I just finished. Need to shorten the straps...

medium_dscf0011.3.jpg
Pink and orange vases from Ikea.

So, this was not a hard one for me---these colors have definitely been my declaration of independence over the past 10 months!
In the knitting news--I am almost to the toe shaping on my first embossed leaves sock. I am SO loving this sock. Now, here is my dilemma. I tend to suffer from sock ADD, and rarely move on to the second sock immediately. In this instance, I am not yet bored with this pattern, and would have no problem completing the second sock in a timely, sequential fashion. However, since my next sock was going to use some glorious pink yarn, and would fit in nicely with the March Project Spectrum theme, should I purposely forego the completion of the second sock in order to fulfill the requirements of the project? Any thoughts from those of you out there on the internets?

(said yarn for new sock. herein lies the problem. My fingers are ITCHING to see this yarn in the Jaywalker. And March IS the month for sticking in the pink... What is a girl to do?)
